The woodland was part of the Halkyn Castle Estate owned by the Duke of Westminster. It is a mix of native deciduous and planted conifer wood with the estate-addition of laurel and rhododendron (great for dens!).

This area is amazing for walking, running and exploring; with the Iron-age hillfort and mote & bailey remains on Halkyn ‘Mountain' within a 30 minute walk. There you can enjoy incredible views of the Dee Estuary and beyond to Liverpool and Blackpool and Moel Famau, the Clwydian Range and Snowdonia to the south.

The historic villages of Halkyn and Northop are located about 2 miles away and are packed with history. Nearby towns of Flint, Holywell and Mold are within 6 miles. Discover Flints' impressive Castle, the healing well and farm park of Holywell and the best Market around in Mold on a Wednesday and Saturday.

Public transport from Halkyn and Northop is regular to all towns.

There are also great places to eat, play golf, explore and have adventures.

As much as we want you to explore the hidden gems nearby, our location on the A55 is incredibly convenient for the fabulous visitor attractions of the rest of North Wales and the North West of England.
