Wild Woodland Bell Tents

We have three 5m bell tents available in our wildflower area surrounded by streams and blessed with sunset views across farmland to the Dee Estuary.


They are available during the summer and are kitted-out with up to 4 basic z-beds, cushions and rugs. The tents are ideal for a couple or a family of four, you can arrange the z-beds to suit your needs. There is a 2-night minimum stay, and a spacious communal fire circle is provided.


The bell-tents are off-grid with solar powered lights, and a battery light. We support Dark Skies Wales perfect for watching the sunsets or stargazing. You will need a torch to walk to the shower block in the dark. If you’re lucky you might see owls or bats and at dusk and dawn, hares and foxes. This is a very peaceful place to relax after a day at the seaside, exploring the Wales Coast Path, the Clwydian Range AONB or enjoying the open moorland of Halkyn mountain accessible on foot from site. 


There are two pubs within walking distance, both are dog friendly, one serves food and the other great ales, ciders and has a pool table.


Set in 47 acres of woodland this small seasonal touring site is full of wildlife and adventures.


What’s provided?

  • 5 metre canvas bell-tent with ground sheet situated on grass. The tent has a coir matting floor and rugs.

  • 2 metre awning.

  • Double camp chair and table.

  • Four folding z-beds 

  • Solar lights and a battery lamp (remember to bring torches).

  • Cushions and two blankets.

  • BBQ 

  • Fire starter pack with wood, kindling and matches.

  • 32 litre cool box, with replacement cold freezer blocks available at the house.

  • Crockery box with utensils, chopping board, cups, plates, bowls and cutlery for 4 and washing-up bowl and brush.


Communal campfire 

Shower block with washbasins, flushing toilets and electric showers nearby and pot washroom. Red bins (hand recycled) and drinking water taps.

What do you need to bring?

Towels and personal toiletries, torch, extra camping chairs if needed, extra layers of clothing, outdoor shoes suitable for uneven terrain, indoor tent shoes and insect repellent. Bring your own bedding including base-sheets and pillows. Food and charcoal. Also bring your own gas stove and any pans you need.



£140 for a 2 night stay (minimum booking two nights).

No dogs in the bell tents.

Bell Tent Bookings

Thank you for choosing Halkyn Castle Wood for your glamping stay. 


Upon making a booking you are entering into an agreement with us, which is detailed in the Terms and Conditions below. Please read these carefully and contact us if you have any queries.

Tariffs & Deposits

The tariff quoted is for accommodation in a glamping unit (referred to as ‘accommodation’). Unless clearly stated on your booking confirmation, any extras will incur an additional cost.


Cancellation & Refunds

When you make your booking and we have received the required deposit to secure the booking, a legally binding contract exists between us. We are a small business and cancellations do have a big impact so please be respectful and notify us if you are unable to honour our contract.
If you wish to cancel your booking:

No refund of deposit but customer not liable for total balance

Less than 7 days or no-show

Customer liable for total balance.


A cancellation fee of up to 5% will be charged to cover administration.

If you need to cancel your booking due to good reason, we are happy to transfer your booking to another date, if possible, without loss of your original deposit, providing you do so more than 7 days before your stay. Please contact us to discuss.

If you have booked via a third-party agent and wish to cancel, please consult your agent’s terms and conditions, as we are unable to process your cancellation and refund.

If the Government impose a Covid-19 travel restriction covering the period of your stay we will refund your deposit if you have booked direct, less a cancellation fee of up to 5%. Bookings made through a third-party agent will be subject to their terms and conditions.


Non-availability of Accommodation

Should it be necessary for us to cancel a booking in exceptional circumstances we will contact you immediately. Any payments made would be refunded in full. Our liability would not extend beyond this refund.

Check-in and check-out

Check-in is 3pm - 8pm on your day of arrival. If you haven’t arrived by 8pm then we will regard it as a ‘no-show’. We strongly advise arriving in daylight as there are no outside lights on site, except your own torch light. Please advise us of your arrival time.
Please vacate your accommodation by 10.30am on your day of departure, unless arranged otherwise.


The balance of your payment is due on arrival. Payment can be made by cash or bank transfer.
If you wish to pay by cash, you will still be requested to provide a credit/debit card on arrival as guarantee against any damages.


Damages & Repairs

Please respect the accommodation and our property. You are responsible and liable for any breakages, damages or losses, which you cause to the accommodation or its contents, or any part of the glamping site. We do not normally charge for accidental breakages, but we reserve the right to charge for repair or making good if the damage, breakage or loss is significant. Please report any incidents when they occur and ensure you tell us immediately if there are any problems with your accommodation so we can take steps to remedy them.

During your stay

  • Antisocial behaviour or actions which are likely to offend others will not be tolerated and we reserve the right to terminate your stay. No refunds will be made.

  • Only registered guests are allowed on the premises. We do not allow guests to invite visitors to the premises as this is out of compliance with the fire management protocol and insurance. In addition, inviting visitors to the site will have an impact on other guests. 

  • Halkyn Castle Wood is a natural environment with uneven ground, trees, branches, streams, rocks, insects and all the other ‘hazards’ of nature.

  • Fires or stoves must not be used inside the bell tent or awning. Fire safety instructions are provided in the Welcome Folder.

  • The bell-tents are in a grass field with mown pathways, but the terrain is uneven. There is no electricity in the field and thus no outside lights. A battery powered lamp is provided. There are no power points or Wi-Fi but there is good 4G coverage. 

  • This is a small peaceful site with a friendly community of seasonal tourers. 


Site rules

  • Behave in an appropriate, considerate and safe manner to all people and animals on site.

  • No loud noise after 9pm or before 8am. No loud radios or amplified music at any time.

  • No takeaways or hot/cooked food in the tents. A communal campfire area with seating is provided. A utility room is provided in the shower block.

  • No smoking or use of electronic cigarettes inside the accommodation at any time. If you smoke outside, please smoke at least 3 metres away from the accommodation. Please do not discard cigarette butts on the ground, use the fire pit.

  • Fireworks and sky lanterns are strictly not allowed as they pose a risk of fire and are a danger to livestock. 

  • Open fires are allowed in the designated fire circle. BBQs can be used in the designated area.

  • Do not leave litter anywhere on site, and never leave food outside your accommodation. 

  • Firewood and kindling will be provided for the campfire; additional firewood can be purchased at the house. Please do not break twigs off the trees or disturb habitat piles left for wildlife.

At the end of your stay you must ensure that:

  • Your accommodation is left in a tidy condition.

  • All rubbish is placed in the red bins provided near the shower block.

  • All kitchen equipment is properly washed up and left on the table.

  • If the accommodation is not left in an acceptable condition and extra cleaning is required, this will incur a charge.

4 x folding Z-Beds, bedside logs, one battery lamp, 2 x rugs, table, double chair, picnic blanket, utensils, 4 x plates, side plates, bowls, cutlery, 2 x cushions, 2 x throws, washing up bowl, tea towel, bin bag. 


We suggest you bring.

Sleeping bag or bedding (including a base sheet), food and drinks (or visit our lovely local pubs and restaurants), towels and toiletries, matches, charcoal, water container, torch, insect repellent, sun cream, wildlife ID book, slippers for in the bell tent, boots for walking, board games, pack of cards.


All guests must adhere to current government guidelines regarding Covid-19, violation of these guidelines will result in your being asked to leave.

If during your stay you are advised by a Healthcare Professional to self-isolate and are unable to return home you will be required to pay in advance for any additional night’s accommodation you require beyond the original booking, along with any extra items


Car Parking

Parking is available for guests’ use adjacent to the glamping meadow. Cars and any possessions are left here are at owner's risk. No cars are allowed in the glamping meadow. Please observe speed limits on site.


We reserve the right to change our prices at any time. This does not affect bookings already made.


Children under 16 must be always accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult.


We do not accept any liability for any damage, loss or injury to any member of your party or any vehicles or possessions, unless proven to be caused by a negligent act by ourselves or our employees or contractors whilst acting in the course of their employment.

Guest Registration

In order to comply with the Immigration (Hotel Records) Order 1972 (and subsequent amendments), guests aged over 16 are required to complete a Guest Registration Form upon check-in. Information collected includes full name, nationality, date of arrival and departure. In addition, guests who are not British, Irish or Commonwealth citizens will be asked to provide their passport number, place of issue and next destination. Details from this form will be kept for at least 12 months. The management reserve the right to request to see one form of photo identification and to take a copy.


Data and privacy

The holding and use of personal information are regulated by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The owner, Mrs Vanessa Warrington, is the Data Controller. We are committed to safeguarding and respecting your personal information.
